Banpu meets local NGOs and community leaders

The management of PT Indominco, a coal mine company owned by Thai company Banpu, held a meeting with non-governmental organizations and community leaders near its concession area in Sangatta, East Kalimantan.

During the meeting, the company's management promised to give a serious attention in empowering the local economy and to involve the local NGOs in its community development program.

The company also promised to provide Rp 4.5 billion for its community development programs a year or about US$0.08 per ton of its coal production, which is expected to reach six million tons a year. (*)
