Thai conglomerate Banpu pcl said that its coal operations in Indonesia during the fourth quarter of last year (4Q18) achieved the highest coal sale of the year at 7.61 million tons, up 14 percent quarter-on-quarter (QoQ).

The company said in a statement last week that average selling price (ASP) was US$77 per ton, which declined 13 percent QoQ due to easing coal market prices.

The cost of sale slightly increased 8 percent to $47.98 per ton with diesel price unchanged at $0.67 per litre. Gross profit margin was slimmer at 39 percent versus 47 percent in the previous quarter.

Banpu runs its coal mining business in Indonesia through subsidiary IDX-listed PT Indo Tambangraya Megah Tbk (ITMG), which has five coal mine units including PT Indominco Mandiri, PT Trubaindo Coal Mining, PT Bharinto Ekatama, PT Kitadin and PT Jorong Barutama Greston.
