Banpu reports Indonesian coal sales slightly up in Q3

Thai energy firm Banpu PCL said on Monday that its coal sales volume from Indonesian mines reached 4.82 million tons during third quarter of 2007, up 2 percent compared to the same quarter of 2006.

The sales volume only slightly increased due to unfavorable rainy season and limited capacity of mining contractors at Trubaindo mine, Banpu said.

According to Banpu, sales revenue from its Indonesian coal mines during the quarter are 7,487 million baht.

Banpu said that sales from its two high-quality coal mines, Indominco and Trubaindo, are 3.17 million tons and 1 million tons respectively in this period, adding that the average coal selling price increase 7 percent from previous quarter and 16 percent from last year to US$42.58 per ton

Both mines represent 82 percent of Banpu?s total shipment, an increase compared to the previous quarter of 78 percent, it said. (denny)
