Banpu reports lower sales volume from RI operation

Thai firm Banpu Pcl reported Wednesday that coal sales volume from its Indonesian coal operation in the second quarter of this year slightly declined by 6 percent to 6.72 million tons compared to the first quarter.

The average coal selling price (ASP) during the quarter was concluded at US$68.23 per ton, down 4 percent from the first quarter. ?Measures to lower mining and fuel costs continued to yield good result with the average cost of sale similar tothe previous quarter at $44.80 per ton,? the company said in a statement.

Gross profit margin eased to 34 percent versus 38 percent in the previous quarter due to the lower ASP.

Banpu runs its coal mining business in Indonesia through subsidiary IDX-listed PT Indo Tambangraya Megah Tbk, which has five coal mine units including PT Indominco Mandiri, PT Trubaindo Coal Mining, PT. Bharinto Ekatama, PT. Kitadin and PT Jorong Barutama Greston.
