Banpu?s coal output from Indonesian mines to rise 7% in 2003

Thai energy conglomerate Banpu PCL expects coal production from its Indonesian operations to rise seven percent to 12 million tons this year, Dow Jones newswires quoted its chief executive as saying.

Production from its coal mines in Thailand would stay around 3 million tons, about the same as last year, Banpu?s chief executive Chanin Vongkusolkit was quoted as saying last Friday.

Chanin said Banpu?s sales this year would likely reach 13 billion bath (US$=THB42.935) with a net profit around THB1.4 billion, Chanin said last Friday. In 2002, its sales totaled THB10.91 billion, with a net profit of THB1.45 billion.

In Indonesia, Banpu operates coalmines through three subsidiaries namely Jorong Barutama Greston (South Kalimantan), and Kitadin and Indominco Mandiri (East Kalimantan). (*)
