Coal miner PT Jorong Barutama Greston (JGB), a unit of Thai energy conglomerate Banpu which operates in South Kalimantan, has been accused of not reclaiming its mines.
The head of the South Kalimantan office dealing with environment protection, Bambang Sartopo, said they had in fact reminded JGB to reclaim their mines which were no longer operational. But the company management did not respond, he said.
Bambang lauded other coal miners PT Adaro Indonesia and PT Arutmin Indonesia which had reclaimed their mines in South Kalimantan as demanded by existing regulations.
JBG is one of the three coal mining firms owned by Thai energy giant Banpu. The other two are PT Indominco Mandiri and PT Kitadin which operate in East Kalimantan. (Vocces)
