East Kalimantan coal miner PT. Banpu kitadin, a unit of Thai energy conglomerate Banpu Plc is expected to resume coal shipping to its customers early next month, after the company resumed its mining operations, a company official said.

Kitadin has resumed normal production after protesting villagers that blockaded mine?s hauling road since September 9 agreed to disperse last week. Kitadin declared force majeur to its customers on September 18.

Banpu Indonesia senior official Leksono Poeranto told Petromindo.Com Monday that the villagers stopped their action after Banpu agreed to make commitments to the villagers. He did not disclose what kind of commitment the company made.

Kitadin had been frustrated over the way local police and Kutai Kartanegara regency administration handled the problem. ?They are reluctant to lend a hand to help solving the problems,? said a Banpu Indonesia official.

Kitadin normally produces 7,000-8,000 tons of coal per day. (godang)
