Banpu?s Q2 coal sales higher by 19%

Wednesday, August 11 2010 - 10:08 AM WIB

Thai energy firm Banpu Plc reported on Wednesday that its Indonesian coal sales volume reached 5.36 million tons in the second quarter of 2010, increase 19 percent compared to the same period of last year at 4.41 million tons.

?The coal operations in Indonesia deliver total sale volume of 5.36 million tons in this quarter, falling 13% QoQ due to the seasonal rainfall in Kalimantan during the period and the lack of output from Jorong mine which has been suspended since mid-January as its land usage permit was under renewal process. Compared to last year the total coal sale increases 19% led by contribution from Indominco East Block and Kitadin-Embalut whereas in last year these two areas had not been fully started,? the company said in statement.

The average coal selling price rises to US$77.77 per ton in this quarter, increase 17 percent and 5 percent compared to the previous quarter and the same quarter last year, respectively, it said. (denny)
