Thai energy firm Banpu reported on Thursday the coal sales volume during third quarter of 2011 from its Indonesian mines reached 6.82 million tonens, increased by 30 percent compared to the previous quarter.

As of September, the company has sold 17.6 million tonnes of coal, up 16% compared to the same period of last year. Last year's Q3 coal sales volume reached 5.05 million tonnes.

?All mines recorded higher coal production volume helped by dry weather condition in Kalimantan area,? the company said in a statement.

Banpu through its Indonesian listed firm PT Indo Tambangraya Megah (ITM), has five coal mine subsidiaries operating in East and South Kalimantan, namely: PT Indominco Mandiri, PT Jorong Barutama Greston, PT Kitadin, PT Trubaindo Utama and PT Bharinto Ekatama.

Average selling price from its Indoensian mines was US$98.99 per tonne, up 3% from the previous quarter despite the relatively flat market price during the period, the company said. (giok/romel)
