Banpu?s Trubaindo mine to produce 2.1 MT this year

Thai energy conglomerate Banpu PCL plans to produce 2.1 million tones of coal from its newly producing Trubaindo mine in East Kalimantan this year to achieve Indonesian 2005 production target of 15.5 million tones, according to the company?s presentation released Tuesday.

The company said Trubaindo is expected to produce 100,000 tones this quarter and also to commence first coal shipment from the mine. Trubaindo coal has calorific value of 6950kcal/kg with 0.9 percent sulphur, 3.8 percent ash and 10 percent moisture. According to the company?s earlier release, production from the mine could be raped-up to 6MTPA.

Coal production from Trubaindo is transported by trucks through 37-km hauling road to barge port. Coal would then be loader into 12,000 tons barge with 2,000 tones per hour-capacity barge loader and then transported to Bontang or Balikpapan coal port for shipments. (alex)
