Banpu?s unit to cease coal mining ops in 2015

South Kalimantan coal mining firm PT Jorong Barutama Greston (JBG), a unit of IDX-listed coal mining group PT Indo Tambangraya Megah (ITM) will cease mining operations in 2015 due to reserves depletion, a local media reported recently.

The report said that the company has gradually reduced production volume and is currently producing at 1 million tonnes per year, or about 50 percent of capacity.

The company is preparing reclamation and reforestation process in the affected mining areas and also preparing to handover infrastructure to local government.

ITM is a unit of Thai energy conglomerate Banpu PCL.

According to Banpu?s website, JBG started commercial operations in 1998. (*)
