Banpu to spend $90 million to develop Trubaindo coal mine

Thai Energy conglomerate Banpu Plc. said it would spend around US$ 90 million next year to bring its Trubaindo coal mine in East Kalimantan to come into production by the end of next year.
?The fund will be used mainly to develop infrastructure such as roads, bridges coal port and other facilities,? said Banpu Indonesia director Ponsak Thongampai in a recent interview with Petromindo.Com.
Pongsak said the mine is expected to produce 300,000 tons of coal in 2004, ramping up to peak production of around 6 million tons in 2006.
According to the company?s data, Trubaindo has 51 million tons of coal reserves. (alex)
