Bara Jaya Energi to boost output next year

East kalimantan coal miner PT Bara Jaya Energi (BJE), a coal unit of Balikpapan-based coal miner PT Bara Jaya Utama (BJU) expects to be able to increase production to 80,000-100,000 tons per month of low CV coal starting next year, compared to the current production rate of 50,000 tons per month, according to an industry source.

The BJE coal mine is located in Sanga-Sanga, covering an area of 450 ha, about 3 km from the jetty port at the Mahakam River.

BJE produces coal with CV of 4,100 kcal/kg (GAR) which is a blend between coal from its own mine with CV of 4,300-4,400 kcal/kg (GAR) and coal purchased from another mine owned by PT Grace Coal which has a CV of 3,700 kcal/kg (GAR).

Current buyers include Flame, Travigura, Noble and Toyota Tshuso.
