Bara Jaya plans to develop power plant in Samarinda

IDX-listed coal mining firm PT Bara Jaya Internasional Tbk (ATPK), formerly named PT ATPK Resources Tbk, is eyeing on developing a mine mouth power plant amid the current bearish coal market.
President Director, Raymond A.Bernardus told Petromindo.com on Wednesday that the company is planning to develop a mine mouth power plant near Samarinda, East Kalimantan, with a capacity of 2x27.5 Mega Watt.
Raymond said that the company has proposed the project to state electricity firm PT PLN. ?Now we are waiting for the response from PLN. If our proposal is accepted by PLN then we are looking forward to signing Power Purchase Agreement,? he said, adding that the project will have total investment of US$ 90 million.
Raymond added that once the PPA has been signed, it will take about one year to financial closing followed by the construction phase.
