A coal shipping and logistics company in Jambi, PT Bara Ria Sukses (BRS), will start its Jambi Coal Terminal (JCT) operation at Batanghari River in June of this year.
"At the end of June this year, we will operate two conveyors and one manual loading facility. Each conveyor can load 800,000 tons per hour," BRS President Commissioner Deniel Candra said to Petromindo.com.
Currently, BRS serves a number coal mining companies in Jambi among others PT Bangun Energi Indonesia, PT Renuka Coal and PT ICR Antam.
JCT can dock 150 - 180 feet barge with capacity 1,000 - 1,500 metric tons in dry season and 180 - 210 feet barge with capacity 2,500 - 2,800 metric tons in rainy season.
BRS, a joint venture with India's Bothra Group, spent US$5 million to $6 million to build the first of four stages of JCT project. The company took 8 months to build 90 percent of first stage JCT project to completion.
BRS provides coal hauling solution for mining companies in Jambi, where local government applies rules by restricting coal hauling through public roads due to high social tension.
In 2012, Jambi introduced bylaw (Perda) No 13/2012 regarding the restriction on the use of public road for coal hauling.
