Baramarta reports higher Q1 coal output

South Kalimantan's coal miner PD Baramarta said on Monday its coal output reached 1.098 million tons in the first quarter of this year, an increase of about 15 percent compared to the same quarter last year.
Coal sales in the quarter reached around 900,000 tons, the company?s Operations Manager Slamet Santosa told Petromindo.com, adding that the company targeted to produce 1.1 million tons in the second quarter 2008.
PD Baramarta is targeting to produce 4 million tons of coal this year, up from the 3.7 million tons in 2007.
Baramarta produces coal with CV content of around 6,500 Kcal/kg. The company sold coal at its stockpile to traders PT Prima Multi Minerals under long-term contracts that are renewed annually. The traders sell the coal to Asia Pacific market. (denny)
