South Kalimantan's coal miner PD Baramarta said on Thursday its coal output reached 1.187 million tons in the April-June quarter of this year, an increase of about 30-40 percent compared to the same quarter last year.

The firm sold the same amount of coal output in the period, Operations Manager Slamet Santosa told Petromindo.com, adding that the company targeted to produce 1.1-1.2 million tons in the third quarter 2008.

The coal output was increasing because of good weather, the availability of additional transportation armada such as dump trucks, excavators, he said.

Baramarta is on track to meet the target of 4 million tons of coal output this year, up from the 3.7 million tons in 2007, he added.

Baramarta produces coal with CV content of around 6,300-6,500 Kcal/kg. The company sells coal at its stockpile to traders PT Prima Multi Minerals and PT Prima Multi Trada under long-term contracts that are renewed annually. The traders sell the coal to Asia Pacific market. (denny)
