South Kalimantan coal miner PD Baramarta said on Wednesday its coal output reached 618,859 tons in the second quarter of this year, about 15 percent lower compared to the same period last year.

?Coal sale in the quarter is the same as production. The output and sales are decreasing because bad weather in the mine,? a company official told Petromindo.com.

Accumulative coal production until the end of June is 1.41 million tons. The company is still on track to reach its coal output target of 3.5 million tons for this year, the official said.

Starting the fourth quarter the company will start producing coal from new pit called ?Central?, the official added.

In the next quarter, the company is targeting to produce around 800,000 tons.

Baramarta produces coal with CV content of around 6,500 Kcal/kg. The company sells its coal at its stockpile to traders PT Prima Multi Minerals and PT Prima Multi Trada under long-term contracts that are renewed annually. The traders sell the coal to Asia Pacific market. (denny)
