Baramarta to increase 2011 coal production

South Kalimantan coal miner PD Baramarta said on Thursday its 2011 coal output target is 4 million tonnes, up around 1 million tonnes from last year?s output of 3.1 million tonnes.

?Our planned production (4 million tonnes) for this year has been approved by directorate general of mineral and coal,? the official told Petromindo.com.

Despite, the wet season has been extended through this month, the company is confident in its ability to meet the target, the official said.

The company?s coal output for last year reached 3.1 million tonnes, slightly increasing from the company?s revised target of 3.0 million tonnes, the official added.

Baramarta produces coal with CV content of around 6,500 Kcal/kg. The company is still selling its coal at its stockpile to traders PT Prima Multi Minerals and PT Prima Multi Trada under long-term contracts that are renewed annually. The traders sell the coal to Asia Pacific market, the official added. (denny)
