Baramarta to miss coal production target on softening demand

South Kalimantan coal miner PD Baramarta may not be able to meet this year?s production target of 4 million tones due to softening demand.

A company official told Petromindo.Com on Thursday that the company might only be able to produce 3.2-3.4 million tones this year.

The official said January-September production has reached 2.54 MT with fourth quarter production budgeted at 910,000 tonnes.

Next year, the company might set production target at 3.5MT, the official said.

Baramarta sells its entire coal production through traders PT Prima Multi Minerals and PT Prima Multi Trada under 5-year contracts that will end in 2011. The company negotiates its coal price annually.

Baramarta produces coal with CV content of around 6,300-6,500 Kcal/kg (ADB). (denny)
