Baramulti sets to increase coal production

Coal mining and trading firm Baramulti Group sets to increase production from its two East Kalimantan coal mines to 1.8 million tonnes this year from 1MT this year.

GM-Mining Operations Robert Belgica told Petromindo.Com an a sideline of Coaltrans Conference in Bali Tuesday that its Mitrabara Adiperdana (MA) mine will produce 1.2MT this year and 600,000 tonnes will be produced from Baradinamika Mudasukses (BM) mine.

Both mines are located in Malinau regency.

Belgica said the group will increase production to 2-3 MT next year.

MA produces coal with CV of 6,300kcal/kg (ADB) and BM produces 7,000kcal/kg coal both with sulfur content of 0.3%.

Coal from both mines is transported to stockpile through 72-km haul road, then barged to Transhipment point in Tarakan through Sesayap river.

The company sells its coal to export markets such as Japan, South Korea, Thailand and the Phillipines, he said. (denny)
