Baramutiara to further coal supply delay to PLN

South Sumatra coal miner PT.Baramutiara Prima seems to continue delaying to supply the coal to state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), as the company has long-term contracts with PLN under first stage of 10,000 MW crash program.

The company is now still under construction stage and the mine probably enter into production stage within next 1.5 years, the company?s official told Petromindo.Com without giving further details.

Earlier, the company plans to start coal production from its mine in the third quarter of 2009, when power plants owned by state electricity firm PLN start operations. The company plotted coal production at 1.2 million tonnes in the first year, and then double to 2.4 MT the following year.

All coal production from the mine would be supplied to PLN?s proposed power plants; Suralaya Baru (1x 625MW, 900,000 tonnes per annum contract), Labuan (3x315 MW, 570,000 TPA) and Pelabuhan Ratu (3x315, 850,000 TPA) all of which are located in the western part of Java. Total contract with the three power plants amounted to 2.4MTPA.

Baramutiara is a third generation coal contract of work holder. The mine is located in Sungai Lilin district, Musi Banyuasin regency. (denny)
