Barisan Gold appoints Peter Akerley to BOD

Canada?s mining firm Barisan Gold Corporation announced the appointment of seasoned geologist Peter C. Akerley to its board of directors (BOD).

Akerley is one of the founders and principals of the Erdene group of companies and has held the position of President and Chief Executive Officer and Director of Erdene Resource Development Corporation since March 2003, the company said in a statement obtained Tuesday. Akerley is a geologist with over 25 years' experience in the mining and mineral exploration business carrying out precious and base metal exploration in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Guyana, Mongolia and the Philippines. Akerley is also Chairman of Morien Resources Corporation and a Director of Temex Resources Corporation.

Akerley replaces Edward C. Rochette as a Director of Barisan Gold, who has resigned from the BOD to devote more time to his other commitments.

Barisan Gold also announced that 150,000 incentive stock options having an exercise term of 5 years and an exercise price equal to Monday's closing market price are being granted to Akerley.

Barisan Gold is a Canadian-based it is engaged in the exploration, acquisition and development of mineral properties in Indonesia and currently owns and operates a number of gold and gold-copper properties in Indonesia's Aceh Province on the northern tip of Sumatra Island. Projects on these properties include 6 identified gold-copper porphyries in the Barisan porphyry belt, the Abong epithermal gold deposit and the Takengon gold & copper porphyry prospect.
