Gold mining firm PT Barisan Tropical Mining denied charges that it's tailing waste product had been the causing factor for the destruction of the rubber plant of the local people in the Suka Manung village, Karang Jaya subdistrict, in South Sumatra.

Administration manager Kemal Nazar said that the death of the plants was caused by stagnated water because of poor drainage system.

He said that there the company's tailing waste product was delivered to a special waste container not to the rubber plantation area.

A youth group has recently made a protest over allegations that Barisan Tropical Mining's waste product has been the cause of the death of the local rubber plant.(*)
