IDX-listed diversified company PT Barito Pacific Tbk is considering to boost its planned power plant project from the initial plan of 150 MW to 600 MW, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Friday.

The paper quoted Barito President Director Agus Salim Pangestu as saying that the Ministry of Industry has advised the company to increase the capacity of the planned power plant to allow it to sell excess power to state utility PLN.

He added that based on a study made by the company, expanding the capacity would cut down investment cost of the project, expected to be completed in 2018.

As previously reported, Barito plans to develop either coal-fired or gas fired power plant on a plot of land in Cilegon, Banten, owned by its petrochemical subsidiary PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk. The electricity produced could be supplied to Chandra Asri or PLN.(*)
