Batang power plant to absorb 10,400 workers during construction stage

The planned 2x1,000 MW Batang coal-fired power plant in Central Java is expected to absorb up to 10,400 workers at the peak of its construction stage.
Febriati Nadira, Head of Corporate Communications at IDX-listed coal mining company PT Adaro Energy Tbk, told Petromindo.com on Tuesday that local workers will be prioritized in the project.
Adaro through its subsidiary PT Adaro Power is a member of a consortium called PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI), the developer of the power plant project. Other consortium members are Japan?s Itochu and J-Power.
BPI President Directro Mohammad Effendi said earlier that financial close for the power plant project is expected in June of this year, to be followed with the start of the construction process, which is projected to be completed in 2020.
