Batubara Lahat to start trial production in August

South Sumatra coal miner PT Batubara Lahat will begin trial production from its Padang Lengkuas and Gunung Agung coal mine next month, the company official said.

 

The company’s President Commissioner Syamsul Rizal said on Friday that both mines have reserves of six million tons of coal.

 

At the trial production phase, the company will produce 30,000 tons of coal. It plans to rump up coal production to 700,000 tons in the next few years, he said.

 

“We have explored the mining area since 2005 and now we are preparing for the production,” he was quoted by Sriwijaya Post as saying.

 

The report did not give further details.

 

The company has concession area of 500 Ha. (*)
