S. Sumatra coal miner PT Baturona Adimulya expects to start coal production from the mine by the end of the year with initial production of 1 million tonnes in 2008 and to be doubled to 2 MTPA the following years.

Marketing officer Dudu Badriansyah told Petromindo.Com on Tuesday that the company would commence construction on the mine soon.

The company would construct 40-km haul road from the mine to Sungai Damai river port in Musi Banyuasin regency, where 5-hectares of land had been appropriated.  The port will have capacity to serve 3,000-5,000 tonnes-capacity barges.

Coal produced from the mine would have CV range between 5,000-5,600Kcal/kg, said Dudu.

According to Dudu, Baturona is currently in talks to sell some of its future coal production to state coal miner, which will use the mine's coal as blending. The company will also participate in tenders hold by state electricity firm PLN to supply its various power plants.

Baturona is a third generation CCoW holder. (denny)
