Bayan 2009 coal production to jump sharply

The company said in a presentation released Thursday that the increase would be due to start up its Firman Ketaun Perkasa (FKP) mine and continued expansion at Wanaha Baratama Mine, Perkasa Inakakerta, Teguh Sinar Abadi and Fajar Tabang Brian mines.
Coal sales volume is expected to increase to 10MT in 2009 from 6.7MT in 2008 with some 600,000 tonnes of coal purchased from third party.
?2009 sales are fully committed and demand remains strong especially from Europe, Japan, Taiwan, Korea and India,? the company said.
The company said average selling price for 2009 is predicted to decrease to US$60-65 per tonne from $75 per tonne last year, while cash cost is also expected to decrease to$50-55 per tonne fro $68 per tonne last year due to lower fuel prices and lower strip ratio.
All of the group?s mines are located in South and East Kalimantan.
The company said it had also completed appointment of contractors for its mines.
Bayan, which is the 8th largest producing group in Indonesia, operates 8 mining companies including 5 CCoWs. (denny)
