IDX-listed coal miner PT Bayan Resources Tbk has awarded Australia-based mining logistics company Bis Industries Ltd (BIS) a contract to transport around 5-6 million per year tons of coal effective since March.
Russel Neil, Director and Chief Development Officer of Bayan told Petromindo.com recently that the services provided by BIS were considered cheaper, about 20 percent, than other options.
He acknowledged that his company initially doubted whether BIS? trucks, which use dual powered train technology and has capacity of up to 300 tons, can be operated at Bayan?s 96-km hauling road, linking the Tabang mine and the port in East Kalimantan, which was designed for 150-ton-capacity trucks.
Neil explained that by using the BIS services, the company deploys less trucks, drivers and maintenance cost, thus contributes to cost-cutting measures.
