Bayan lifts Wahana force majeure status

IDX-listed coal mining firm PT.Bayan Resources has lifted force majeure status for its Wahana Baratama mine in South Kalimantan.

Bayan president director Chin Wai Fong said on Friday although the force majeure status had been lifted, the mine was still in recovery stage. He expected the mine to run at full capacity "soon", without giving any exact timeline.

Bayan was forced to announce force majeure on September 12, 2008 after heavy rainfalls hit the mine and caused heavy flooding.

Wahana, which is located in Satui regency, started operations early this year. Bayan commissioner Michael Sumarijanto said in April 2008 that the mine was expected to produce 2.5 million tons this year. (denny)
