IDX-listed coal mining group PT Bayan Resources said that commercial production of its Tabang coal upgrading project in East Kalimantan would be delayed to the third quarter of this year due to problems encountered during the commissioning stage.
Director Alistair McLeod told Petromindo.Com on Thursday that the plant would be expected to produce 300,000 tonnes of upgraded coal this year and would start to produce coal at installed capacity of 1 million tonnes per year next year.
Bayan with its ASX-listed partner White Energy Corp are building a coal upgrading plant in Tabang with commercial production initially scheduled in the fourth quarter of 2009. The partnership is planning to increase the capacity to 5 MTPA. (denny)
