Bayan studies underground mining ops at S. Kalimantan mine

IDX-listed coal mining group PT Bayan Reources has appointed PT. Kopex Mining Contractor to carry out works to study possibility to conduct underground mining at its South Kalimantan unit PT Wahana Baratama Mining (WBM), the Company reported on Friday.

In 2007 Pre-FS report, Kopex said WBM has 52.5 million tonnes of non-JORC reserves at an area of 566 hectares which can potentially be developed into underground mining operations.

WBM produced 2.9 million tonnes of coal last year from its open-cast mining operations.(alex)
