Bayan to boost coal production next year

Indonesia-listed coal miner Group PT Bayan Resources Tbk is expecting to increase its coal production to 20 million tonnes next year, from this year?s target of 15 million tonnes, the company?s official told Petromindo.Com.

The official said that Bayan might be surpassing this year?s production target of 15 million tonnes, without giving the figure. The official declined to give further information.

Bayan has reported that its coal production during first semester of this year reached 7.1 million tonnes, a 26.78 percent increase compared to the 5.6 million tonnes for the same period last year.

Overall last year the company produced 12 million tonnes of coal from its eight coal mine subsidiaries, including PT Gunungbayan Pratama Coal, PT Perkasa Inakakerta, PT Wahana Baratama Mining, PT Teguh Sinar Abadi and PT Firman Ketaun Perkasa.

During the first semester, the company?s major customers include Malaysian power utility Tenaga Berhad, Taiwan utility firm Taipower, trading firms Noble, Adani, J. Aron Co, Coal & Oil and East India Energy Company. (denny)
