Bayan to receive coal floating terminal by end 2012

Indonesia-listed coal miner group PT Bayan Resources is expecting to receive its a coal vessel, which will be used as floating coal terminal called Kalimantan floating terminal-2 (KFT-2) by the end of 2012.

The KFT-2 has a length of 192 m, breadth 50 m, depth (overall) 15.0 m, loaded draft 9.0 m with unloading capacity of 4 x 1,500 tonnes per hour. It has also stockpile capacity of 60,000 tonnes of coal, the company?s official said.

KFT-2 is to be delivered in 2012 to support Tabang/Pakar production growth, the official said. The KFT-2 is expected to be anchored close to Bayan?s Balikpapan Coal Terminal, offshore East Kalimantan.

The vessel is currently being built at Dalian, China, by Dalian Teraoka Heavy Industral Co.,Ltd, a Chinese firm unit of Japanese firm Teraoka Shoji Inc.

Bayan also has KFT-1, which was designed specifically for Bayan?s Wahana coal mine in South Kalimantan to allow loading up to capesize vessels. KFT-1 has stockpile capacity of 50,000 tonnes of coal with unloading capacity of 4 x1,000 tonnes per hour. It accepts barges from 2,000 to 10,000 DWT, and has capability to unload coal from two barges simultaneously. (denny)
