BBE to resume mining activity

East Kalimantan coal miner PT Berau Bara Energi (BBE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of IDX-listed coal mining group PT Atlas Resources Tbk is expected to resume coal mining activity in March or April of this year, after the old pit has been mined out, an industrial source told Petromindo.Com.
The mining activity has been stopped since three months ago, and since then most of the employees were moved out to another Atlas? coal unit PT Diva Kencana Borneo in West Kutai regency, the source said.
Based on Atlas monthly exploration activity report to the Indonesia stock exchange, the company did not make any exploration activity on BBE mine from July until December 2012.
In a September quarterly report, Atlas revealed that BBE still has proven and probable reserves of 1.5 million tons with measured and indicated resources of 4.5 million tons.
BBE has started its coal production since June 2008 and it targeted around 1 million tons of production per annum. CV from the mine is 5800 kcal/kg (ADB) with total low suplhur.
