IDX-listed coal shipping firm PT Pelayaran Nasional Bina Buana Raya Tbk (BBRM), reduces its coal transport business volume this year to about 70 percent of the total capacity of the company?s barges and tug boats, compared to 80 percent last year.
The move reflects the company?s strategy to diversify to other commodities and reduce dependency on coal transport. ?We don?t want to rely on a single commodity,? President Director Loa Siong Bun told Petromindo.com Thursday.
Siong Bun said that this year the company plans to start transporting nickel. ?Nickel will account for about 20 percent of our total transport capacity,? he said.
The company currently has 35 sets of barges and tug boats of varying capacity. Its clients among others include PT Titan and PT Padang Bara.
