BDI Mining reports Q1 Cempaka diamond mine results

London Stock Exchange-listed BDI Mining Corp reported Friday that Cempaka mine in South Kalimantan produced around 7,552 carats of gem-quality diamonds and about 5,709.50 grams of gold and platinum concentrates in the first quarter of 2006.
BDI said in its quarterly report that it anticipated the dry season combined with the mining of higher grade blocks in the coming months, processing plant throughput and diamond recoveries will increase.
BDI commenced diamond production in August last year.
BDI also said planning for Phase II production at the mine has now reached the advanced stage with trial production pit will commence in the fourth quarter of 2006.
BDI is targeting an eventual production rate of over 100,000 carats from the current rate of 48,000 carats per year from Phase II operations.
BDI has 80 percent stake at Cempaka project with state miner PT Aneka Tambang holds the remaining balance. (robert)
