BDK sees significant jump in 2008 coal sales

Coal mining and trading firm PT.Bumi Dharma Kencana (BDK) plans to increase coal sales to 2 million tonnes this year from 1.5 million tonnes last year.

Director Wahjudi Gatot told Petromindo.Com on Wednesday that the sales consisted of 80 percent export to countries like India, China and Thailand.

Wahjudi said the company has clinched 20-year contract in 2007 to supply low CV coal to Suralaya 3,400-MW power plant in Banten with annual volume of 400,000 tonnes. The company has also secured 10-year contract to supply 30,000 tonnes of coal per month to KEPCO?s Naga power plant in Cebu, the Philippines, starting 2010.

BDK sources 90 percent of its coal sales from its 1,000-hectares mines in Satui, South Kalimantan.(denny)
