Bengkulu books $11.75 million from coal exports

Exports of coal from Bengkulu province reached a total of 578,570.10 tons worth US$11.75 million during the January-August period, this year, according data issued by the local trade office.

Antara news agency reported on Tuesday that most of the coal was exported to India, with total exports reaching 352,831.07 tons worth US$7.43 million during the eight-month period. About 132,191 tons worth US$3.12 million went to Malaysia and other 57,277 tons worth US$1.18 million to Thailand.

The shipment of the coal was carried out directly through the province's Baai port.

Besides coal, the province also exported several other commodities such coffee and rubber but most of the commodities were shipped through Panjang port in Lampung. (*)
