Bengkulu geothermal reserves reach 1,150 MW

The geothermal reserves in the Bengkulu province reach some 1,150 MW, which is a huge source of energy for power development in the future, according to the local chief of the ministry of mines and energy Suratman.

Suratman was quoted as saying by the Astaga.com online that the geothermal reserves were feasible to be developed into power energy by the private sector.

He said that the geothermal reserves were located in the Bukit Daun, Tambang Sawah, and Ulu Lais areas.

Suratman said that the Bengkulu province needed for power supply particularly as the local industry expanded.

He also said that during peak hours, the local power supply was smaller than demand. (*)
