The Bengkulu provincial government has stepped up efforts to develop an industrial zone at Pulau Baai Port, seeking commitments from business players to accelerate utilization of the site.
Officials held a coordination meeting on Tuesday (March 31) with state port operator PT Pelindo (Persero) and dozens of companies to promote investment in the proposed industrial area.
Bengkulu Deputy Governor Mian said the government aims to ensure the area is actively used and does not remain underutilized, positioning it as a gateway for trade flows in the province.
He said the government is encouraging companies to develop operations in sectors such as mining, plantations, fisheries and agriculture to support economic activity at the port.

The initiative forms part of a broader push by the provincial government to strengthen management and development of the Pulau Baai industrial area, in line with directives from the governor.
Pelindo said it has allocated around 215 hectares of land for the industrial zone since 2016, with some portions already occupied by businesses.
The government expects stronger participation from investors to accelerate the development of the site and enhance Bengkulu’s role in regional logistics and trade.
