EMP Bentu Ltd expects to officially start flowing gas from the Bentu block to state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina in the middle of October at a volume of 0.2 mmscfd.

Herwin Hidayat, Investor Relations Chief at IDX-listed PT Energi Mega Persada Tbk, the parent of EMP Bentu, said that the company, in cooperation with upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas, and Pertamina (as a gas buyer), has been conducting gas pipeline test for the channeling of gas from the Bentu PSC. The gas will be distributed by Pertamina for households in Lima Puluh District, Pekanbaru, Riau Province.

Herwin said that the trial started in mid-September, and so far gas has been channeled to some 4,000 households.

EMP Bentu has been channeling gas to state-owned electricity firm PT PLN, pulp maker PT Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper, and Perusda Tuah Sekata, a company owned by the Pelalawan administration in Riau, with combined volume of 54 mmscfd.
