Berau Coal bags coal supply contract to Tanjung Jati B

East Kalimantan coal miner PT.Berau Coal has been formally appointed winner in a bid to supply 1 million tonnes of coal to Tanjung Jati B 2x660 MW power plant in Central Java on Friday, a company official said.

Berau Coal Marketing Manager Eko Budi Berau Coal Marketing Manager Eko Budi told Petromindo.Com the low calorific value coal would be delivered in 2007. Eko said in November 2006 interview that the coal, which will be use to as blending will be delivered in January-June period.

Tanjung Jati B is owned by PT. Central Java Power (CJP), in which Japan trading house Sumitomo is controlling shareholder. CJP entered into a 20-year long-term lease with PLN, under which PLN will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the power plant during the lease period.

The plant commenced operations earlier this year. (godang)
