Berau Coal Energy eyeing CBM potentials in its mine

IDX-listed coal miner PT Berau Coal Energy is studying the coal bed methane (CBM) potentials in all area of its coal mining unit, PT Berau Coal in East Kalimantan.
The company currently has three mining sites; Lati, Binungan and Sambarata with a total concession of 118,400 ha.
?We are conducting the study with the Geological Agency (of Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry), but we cannot reveal the gas potentials as yet. Based on the Agency?s data, the CBM potentials in the Berau area are promising,? said operation director of Berau Coal Energy, Arief Wiedhartono.
The study started in the third quarter of the year and is expected to be finalized by mid-2012. (giok)
