Berau Coal expands producing mines

IDX-listed coal mining firm PT Berau Coal Energy Tbk is expanding its producing mines by up to 14,624 hectares this year in Berau Regency, East Kalimantan.
Investor Daily quoted Gatot Budi Kuncahyo, a deputy director at subsidiary PT Berau Coal, as saying Tuesday that the new producing areas are projected to produce a total of 55 million tons for 15 years.
He added the company had obtained the necessary permit from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for the expansion.
The new producing areas contain coal wit CV of 3,900-4,300 kcal/kg, suitable for domestic power plants, he said. (*)
