Berau Coal eyeing coal mine acquisition

Indonesia Exchange-listed coal firm PT Berau Coal Energy is eying several midsize coal mining companies for acquisition, Bisnis Indonesia reported Thursday.
Director Didik Cahyanto said that the acquisition is part of the company?s strategy to boost its coal output. But he did not give details.
PT Berau Coal Energy is the parent company of East Kalimantan coal miner PT Berau Coal. The company targeted to produce 20 million tons of coal this year, increased from 17 million tons in 2010 and it has planned to boost its output to 30 million tons per annum in 2014. (*)
