"We have the capacity to meet the coal needs of the Cilegon power plant," the coal mining company's president director Jeffrey Mulyono said in Jakarta on Saturday.
State owned electricity company PLN is set to open the pre-qualification tender for the procurement of the coal needs of the Cilegon power plant on May 25. The newly built power plant, with a capacity of 1 x 450 MW, needs about 1.2 million tons of low-grade coal a year.
Jeffrey said PT Berau Coal, which was currently taking part in the coal procurement tenders held by the Tanjung Jati B and Suralaya power plants, needed to find new domestic buyers for its low-grade coal production.
PT Berau Coal, one the country's major coal mining companies based in Kalimantan, exports 70 percent of
its production. The remaining 30 percent, mostly
comprising of low grade coal are sold to local
industries. (*)
