Berau Coal gets TaiPower contract extension

East Kalimantan coal miner PT. Berau Coal said it had been notified by TaiPower that it had been awarded 4-year contract extension to supply 500,000 tons of coal per annum starting 2005 to the Taiwan utility firm.
Berau Coal president Jeffrey Muljono told Petromindo.Com Monday that TaiPower?s notification was ?not yet formal?. Industry sources said that Berau is expeceting to export around 2 million tons of coal to TaiPower this fiscal year.
Berau Coal, which is currently in the process of being controlled by 30 percent shareholder PT. Armadian Tritunggal, is planning to produce 8.5 million tons of coal this year.(godang)
