Indonesian-listed coal producer PT Berau Coal Energy Tbk has just completed assessment on production target of coal in line with the company?s ongoing expansion of infrastructure facilities needed to ramp up the production.

President Director of Berau Coal Rosan Perkasa Roeslani who signed the new assessment last week said that once the infrastructure facilities completed, the company could boost up its coal production to 44 million tonnes in 2016.

?I just approved the new assessment last week. We may revise the production target to about 33 million tonnes in 2014 from the previous (target) of 30 million tonnes,? Rosan told the Coal Asia magazine in exclusive interview in his office.

He said that the company?s new target of production would be about 40 million tonnes in 2016.

The company?s coal production increased by about 1 million tonnes per year until 2009. Since then, the production increased up to 3 million per year.

In 2012, the company is set to meet output of 23.5 million tonnes, increasing from 20 million tonnes last year, then expects to boost it up to 27 million tonnes next year.

?We are one of the coal companies which always hit the (production) target promised to the market. We make the target based on progresses as detailed on mining plans. We don?t want to announce unachievable target to the market,? he said.
